De-Escalation Strategies

Participants will learn to recognize signs of a potential behavioral crisis and remediate before the event. In addition to exploring how their own behavior can contribute to the escalation cycle, participants discover de-escalation techniques that recognize the importance of maintaining student dignity during behavior crises.

At the end of this De-Escalation Strategies course, participants will be able to:

  • Determine individual student behavior triggers
  • Understand and describe the escalation cycle
  • Recognize the signs of a potential behavioral crisis and remediate before the event
  • Learn de-escalation strategies to use at each phase of the escalation cycle

This session is available for WEA members only and is suitable for the general education or special education teacher, paraprofessional, or office personnel to attend. 

There is a non-refundable fee for members for each session is $10, payable by debit or debit card through the secure Eventbrite.  (Register Now)
